Utopia follows a daughter’s emotional search in an effort to learn about the stories lived by her father, who died while working in the mines, and a journey through the man’s archives: photos, videos, and letters he wrote to his family describing the experiences and complexities of mining. The documentary aims to humanize these men who dedicate their lives to the land; rather than a mere record, the film shows an intimate and poetic account of these miners’ lives.
