Water under dispute! With the definitive damning of the Xingu River in 2015, the amount, velocity and level of the water in the region no longer depends of the natural flow of the river, but rather on the concessionaire of the Belo Monte hydroelectric plant: Norte Energia. The Juruna (Yudjá) closely monitor the region and warn of the risks of this change: the disappearance of animal species, some of them endemic to the region, and the consequences for the survival of their people.
